About Brackenspa Stud Farm
Brackenspa Stud Farm will celebrate the 6th birthday of its first youngsters in 2010. Our foundation stallion ‘Resident Gypsy’ has been in the family since birth and was the beginning of what you will see here today.
Run by Sally and David Lister, Brackenspa has developed into a thriving, successful stud and livery business. Quality youngsters are born and produced, destined, we hope for future stardom – not only as competition horses but also as true, honest allrounders. The livery yard has superb facilities including an indoor school and three outdoor arenas.
David Lister, a farmer through and through diversified into livery many years ago and the business has developed over time. Services ranging from DIY livery through to Full livery are all offered.
In 2005 the stud business took on a new role. Sally and David made the decision that an ultimate dream would be to continue the great Graf Magna line. An Uncle of David’s – John Pocklington – had imported this legendary sire from abroad and upon his death this line was lost from Lincolnshire. A mammoth trip was organised to Aberdeenshire were a young colt had been spotted – Athen’s Mumbo Jumbo. His sire Graf Fenmaster bred originally by Bryan Smith was by Graf Magna – the closest relative anybody had managed to locate. On January 1st 2006 Brackenspa Stud Farm welcomed the new stallions to its purpose built stallion block. The up and coming colt, Athen’s Mumbo Jumbo and the dressage star Graf Fenmaster. The yard was almost complete and the dream began.
In the coming two years other stallions were introduced, a super thoroughbred event stallion Athen’s Abercadabra by Abergwiffy, a cremello Danish warmblood – Crown’s Wonder Pearl. A Pre stallion – Macediona Mac and a Buckskin (Dun) and white – Multicolor II. Most recently the young KWPN stallion Amaretto M, the impressive thoroughbred Calcutta and the super smokey black Danish Warmblood stallion Dunhill Pursuit have joined our stable yard.
Stallions, facilities, experience and youngsters have gone from strength to strength but our aim remains the same. Providing a good quality stud service to all our owners, whether they be stallion owners or mare owners and, to produce quality youngsters for all our clients to enjoy.
