Foaling Consent Form
Giving birth is a risky time for both mare and foal.
At Brackenspa Stud we have 20 years of experience in foaling client’s mares. All mares are continuously monitored when they are close to foaling using a combination of foaling alarms and cameras.
At the stud we foal up to forty mares each year and have the experience necessary to know when and how to assist foaling mares. In the event that foaling is not proceeding normally, we are able to call upon our stud vet who lives less than five miles from the premises.
Nonetheless, whilst every care is taken of visiting mares, foaling complications can still occur, and Brackenspa Stud do not accept any liability for injury, illness or loss of the mare or foal. Whilst every effort is made to contact owners in the event of a problem, foalings typically happen at night and can require swift decision making - therefore, we reserve the right to call the vet as soon as it is thought necessary, and to follow their veterinary advice in the best interests of mare and foal. Brackenspa stud does not provide insurance cover for foaling mares, and it is the individual responsibility of the owner to have his/her own comprehensive insurance cover.
